imagine you see a pictograph that looks goodThe taxation department is responsible for the collection of property taxes from leased or lands occupied by non band members. Properties are located on all seven reserves (I.R. #1 to I.R. #7). Currently the assessed value for all leased lands is $65 million.

imagine you see a pictograph that looks goodBC Assessment is contracted to provide assessment services. Assessments for property are sent out every year in December. The appeals need to be sent to BC assessment by the end of January. (see the back of the assessment notice for more details)


 

A D M I N I S T R A T I O N   A C T I V I T I E S

  • administer the Adams Lake Taxation Bylaw
  • administer the Adams Lake Assessment Bylaw
  • draft and present annual Mill Rates Bylaw
  • draft and present annual budget
  • enforcement action if required
  • collect a Community Improvement Fee for alcohol, tobacco and fuel (CIF),

OTHER ACTIVITIES

  • Negotiating municipal service agreements with regional districts, municipalities and FNS.
  • Prepare and distribute tax notices annually.
  • Meet with tax payers, corporations, and others, on tax issues.
  • Update and keep Council informed on all tax related issues

  Home Owner Grants
Home owner grants are available to permanent residents that meet the qualifications.

  Additional Grants
Additional grants are available to senior permanent residents that meet the qualifications.   Apply Annually.


Y E A R L Y   T A X    N O T I C E S

Tax notices are sent out in July with a due date of August.
Appeals have to be filed prior to January 31st of every year.
